- Gas Energy Australia (GEA) appreciates the opportunity to respond to the National Transport Commission (NTC) Examining the Legal Framework for the Land Transport of Dangerous Goods Discussion Paper released in May 2020. GEA notes the Paper's self-explanatory examination and the request made by the Deputy Prime Minister that the NTC considers whether the Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code should be adopted into Australian law using the 'applied legislation' model and whether a common operations manual should be developed to be adopted by all jurisdictions to encourage a more uniform interpretation of the ADG.

- Gas Energy Australia (GEA) appreciates the opportunity to respond to the National Transport Commission (NTC) Government Access to Vehicle Generated Data discussion paper released in May 2020.
In principle, GEA supports governments using vehicle generated data for developing good policy. By way of background, GEA is the national peak body which represents the bulk of the downstream alternative gaseous fuels industry, which covers Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). - GEA acknowledges the need for an increase in the Road User Charge (RUC) and heavy vehicle registration charges to ensure governments recover the amount spent on providing roads for heavy vehicles. And GEA is supportive in-principle of the NTC recommendation that these charges should increase by 2.5% in 2020-21 and 2.5 per cent in 2021-22.
