Committees
The structure of Gas Energy Australia includes a range of specialist Committees and Taskforces that provide analysis and advice on a wide-range of policies, technical compliance and issues important to gas producers, suppliers and their consumers.
Advice from these Committees informs the careful consideration of the Board in formulating Gas Energy Australia policy positions, issues responses and strategic priorities.
Each member of the Association can nominate representatives on Committees and Taskforces, while Associates may be invited to participate relevant to their expertise. They are responsible for providing input to developing and refining policy and technical development options in relation to prevailing and emerging issues...
Standing Committees
Health & Safety Committee
The Committee's proactively seeks to mitigate the risks associated with industry incidents and crisis management.
It reports regularly on industry health and safety developments and implements process safety management, collation and analysis of industry safety and crisis trends, and facilitates the sharing of lessons learned in a co-operative forum.

Standards Management Committee
The Committee's principal role is to provide oversight in developing the industry's national and international standards.
These include national fuel standards, state authority regulations and industry-specific regulations. It also extends to energy and transport industry Codes of Practice, which involve multiple standing technical committees.

Safety Standards & Technical Committee
The Committee is responsible for providing input, guidance and recommendations on prevailing and emerging issues based on the collection and assessment of industry information and experience in the areas of safety and technology.
It brings this insight to the fore in developing relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.

Fuel Quality Standards Committee
The Committee is responsible for leadership, direction and advocacy across regulatory fuel
quality standards affecting the gas fuels industry.
In brings to bear shared intelligence, insights and experience to inform and develop specifications to the highest possible Australian and international standards.

Transporters Committee
The Committee is responsible for improving safety, security and standards across the
Australian gas fuels transport industry, with emphasis on monitoring,
identifying and reducing transport-related incidents and accidents.
Its charter is to ensure transport of gas fuels is performed by appropriately qualified and
competent personnel, and carried out by specifically-designed compliant vehicles.

Autogas Industry Group
The Committee is responsible for identifying and creating new demand for autogas, through fuel, infrastructure, new and retrofitted vehicles and equipment.
Chairman: John Coggins, Unigas.
Incident Management Committee
A GEA Board Committee, the Incident Management Committee's principal role is to provide direct and immediate support to Members affected by a crisis.
While in such a circumstance the Member would be the lead agency, the Committee would assist in managing the whole-of-industry response to the incident/crisis involving downstream gas, which may have resulted in serious damage to persons, property or the environment.

Industry Taskforces
Renewables Taskforce
The Taskforce is responsible for engaging on policy, issues and developments related to renewable gases, specifically bioLPG, rLPG and rDME, and there opportunities they present for net zero and actual zero energy in residential, commericial, industrial (including farming) and recreational settings.

Power Generation Taskforce
The Taskforce is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives and policy responses to ensure growth in non-road gas powered engines, including in marine vessels.

Advisory Council Working Group - Training & Licensing
This Working Group provides a forum for members to raise, discuss, develop and resolve industry and related training and licensing issues.
It provides members with input into the Australian Industry Standards Gas Sector Committee, which develops national industry training packages.

Gas Truck Fleet Development Taskforce
The Taskforce develops and implements responses to the current and emerging challenges faced by the Australian gas-powered transport industry, including light and heavy vehicles.
Chair: Cameron Ure, Elgas.
COVID-19 Taskforce
Due to the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, this Taskforce was established to coordinate whole-of-industry responses and collaboration to ensure the downstream gas industry could continue to provide essential gas fuels across Australia safely and without interruption.
